A fellow hypnotist recommended this book because it takes an interesting view of smoking and smoking cessation, and I must admit that those insights have helped me in my practice.

The problem I have with this book is that the author rags on hypnosis, saying that it's a waste of money. He later writes that he won't be using hypnosis to help people quit smoking, because it's not needed.

The truth is, he uses hypnotic techniques throughout the book. It's a masterpiece of building expectation and applying metaphor. His approach culminates with directing the reader through a series of visualizations that use metaphor and future pacing to communicate the message to the unconscious mind--that's self-hypnosis, plain and simple.

Perhaps Casey doesn't realize what he's doing, or perhaps he's trying to avoid the wrongful stigma that hypnosis carries with the uninformed. In any case, he's proven Hazlerig's Law once again: "The more someone rails against hypnosis, the greater the chance that they're using it."

That said, the book does contain methods that are effective in helping some smokers to quit. -- Good Book--But I Do Have a Bone to Pick
Buy this book - it's the only one that has really worked. I even went to Alan Carr sessions, read the books - have tried on and off for 30 years. This book and the wonderful information in it has done it for me. FREEDOM!! There are no scare tactics, just good, logical information. It took me 6 hours to read, but around 3/4 of the way to the end, I just stopped smoking .. just wanted to, eventhough I wasn't told to.

If you want to see that it is actually EASY to give up, buy this book today - you won't regret it. It was so easy, that I was able to stop smoking, even with others around me who continue to smoke.

I am shocked to find only one review of this book.I was a smoker of 40 years standing and a fully paid up ADDICT and expert at giving up smoking (and failing).The way this book looks at addiction(or lack of) is the trick and one that worked for me and required the bare minimum of will power (thankfully 'cause i didn't have much).
I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams---i know just because it worked for me does not guarrantee it will work for everyone----but it is not expensive and it truly is a NEW WAY OF QUITTING and worth the price of the book. -- the holy grail

    i am trying to Quit Smoking by having a very excellent discipline not take cigarettes anymore. I also use nicotine patches to curb my nicotine cravings from Cigarettes.

    I have bunged smoking a couple of months ago and it was very hard to stop my cigarette cravings. nicotine patches helped me a lot to quit smoking.
